MBV is small enough to provide one-on-one client counseling, with the significant majority of all the legal work performed and managed by a member of the firm rather than delegated to a junior staff attorney. MBV combines the flexibility of a small law firm to meet clients’ unique requirements with the comprehensive legal and technical resources of a larger firm.  The attorneys of MBV collectively have more than 40 years of experience litigating in various Federal Courts around the country at the District and Appellate level, often head to head with the largest law firms in the United States. Additionally, MBV is involved in prosecuting patents, trademarks and copyrights in the United States and in foreign countries. MBV has formed long-term relationships with other high quality, cost efficient law firms around the globe to protect clients’ interests throughout the world.

Merek, Blackmon & Voorhees, LLC represents a diverse group of clients in the energy, environmental, transportation, manufacturing and communication fields. MBV actively counsels clients about rights in patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. MBV continues to provide conservative legal advice to protect clients’ financial interests. MBV currently represents individual clients as well as nationwide companies.

Merek, Blackmon & Voorhees, LLC and its predecessor firm Merek & Voorhees have been intensely involved in litigation since 1991. MBV is strategically located in the Eastern District of Virginia’s "rocket docket" as well as being near the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C., which hears all appeals from patent suits. Additionally, MBV actively litigates throughout the United States representing client’s interests in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret matters while forging new and exciting legal precedents which have had a dramatic effect on the current standards of intellectual property law.  Legal precedent forged by MBV has been incorporated into the Manual of Patent Examining Procedures ("MPEP") used by the Patent & Trademark Office to train its Examiners in how to review patent applications.
